Some days, even the grandest adventures begin with a simple stroll, two companions debating the merits of trail mix versus 'foraged, probably-safe berries'. Other days, the world just decides to announce its presence.
“(Eyes on compass) You know, if you hadnt insisted we take the scenic route through the Whispering Woods, wed probably be enjoying a hot meal right now, not arguing about the edibility of glowing fungi. Zane: (Without looking back, gesturing vaguely) Ah, but Jade, wheres the mystique in safe and pre-cooked? Besides, that fungi looks rather... spirited. Probably just needs a good rinse. (Suddenly, the ground shudders violently. Ancient trees groan, and a surge of raw, violet energy erupts from a cracked section of the stone path directly in front of Zane, throwing up dust and glowing pebbles.) Zane: (Stumbles back, catching his balance, dusting off his shoulder with an exaggerated flourish) Well, speak of the devil and a particularly impolite, earth-shattering entrance it makes! Jade: (Her compass spinning wildly, sparks flying) Less devil, more ancient magical leyline just decided to throw a tantrum. And it looks like it just opened something.”
